Root canal therapy in Ord

According to the American Association of Endodontists, an Ord root canal is an endodontic treatment that is performed by an endodontist like ours at Chandra Smile Designs to relieve dental pain and to save teeth. Patients usually need a root canal when there is an infection or inflammation in the roots of the tooth.

An Ord root canal is done when the pulp is damaged or diseased. The pulp; which is also referred to as the nerve; is the most important part of the tooth. It’s located inside the root canal & contains everything the tooth needs to survive: vital blood vessels, large nerves and connective tissues. The pulp branches out and continues down each root through the canal. The pulp ends just before it reaches the tip of the tooth (the apex). If the pulp is diseased or damaged, a root canal will be mandatory. A root canal is the actual dental treatment that is used to save and repair severely decayed teeth. Infection, trauma, severe tooth decay and numerous other causes can result in a condition known as pulpitis; which is inflammation of the pulp. If the pulp dies or the pulpitis becomes irreversible, a root canal would be necessary. Root canal therapy is done to save the natural teeth and to avoid an extraction. During the procedure, the expert endodontist removes the damaged pulp and then thoroughly cleans the inside of the tooth and seals it. If the condition was to be left untreated, the tissue surrounding the teeth could become infected and abysses could form. For this reason, treatment should be done as soon as possible. If you’re experiencing any tooth pain symptoms, you should schedule an appointment with a dental professional like ours at Piskorski Dental as soon as possible.
